Sophia was born into a just above average New Rome family. She has grown up in New Rome, and had never really left until after she joined the Legion. Sophia had an older brother named Ian, he had been a medic in the first cohort, but died during a quest. She trained with Lupa and then joined the legion at the age of 10. She then went on to become Centurion of her cohort at the age of twelve. She is generally well-liked by her cohort (despite her strict way of leading), and the rest of Camp Jupiter and New Rome.
